In particular, the talk will focus on the global changes brought about by the accelerated adoption and commercialization of new tech LASIC business models in China. Business education in universities will also now be focusing in ABCDE so as to prepare the students to harness technology for sustainable business. Not familiar with acronyms such as LASIC and ABCDE? Topic 2: Understanding Customer Product Reviews and Ratings: A Case at Amazon
Speaker:
Dr. Jiang Zhiying
Head (Graduate Certificate & Diploma in Digital Marketing Programmes)
School of Business, SUSS

Synopsis:
Brands need to leverage the enormous volumes of feedback that consumers leave on social media. Existing methods for understanding free-text based consumer feedback data (e.g. online reviews) are predominantly qualitative (e.g. sentiment analysis). Qualitative approaches, however, cannot provide quantitative predictions of a potential rating increase following a product improvement. This talk will discuss a novel method that converts reviews and ratings into statistical data that can be used to forecast rating performance. This is achieved by assigning quantitative values of importance to the various features of a given product based on each feature’s percentage contribution to the product rating. With such information, marketing and innovation teams can optimise their investment decisions to address consumer needs accurately and therefore maximise return on investment.
Topic: Managing Workplace Stress
Speaker:
Dr. Kit Phey Ling
Mr. Bernard Mackenzie
Dr. Anuradha Dutt

Synopsis:
Work can be a rewarding life experience, yet it can also lead to severe work stress when resources are over-stretched. Some employees invest so much in their careers while trying to meet the needs of their families, that they feel disappointed when the outcomes do not match their expectations. As a result of their inability to manage work and personal stressors, some people experience mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. This talk will provide participants with an overview of mental health issues, and to reflect on how their current coping mechanisms. Speakers will also share the role of mental health professionals like counselling psychologists and counsellors in helping those with mental health conditions to choose more effective behaviours to manage their stress. Additionally, we will provide a brief overview on mental health related programs and services provided at NIE-NTU.
Topic: Leading Digital Transformation – Artificial Intelligence
Institution:
SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business

Speaker:
Dr. Jack Hong
Co-Founder, Research Room Pte Ltd
Adjunct Faculty, MBA & Doctoral Studies, SMU

Synopsis:
Digital technologies have virtually disrupted every industry and caused permanent changes in the way we work and live. A common misconception is that businesses can be ‘miraculously’ transformed by adopting new technologies in their existing business models. The hard truth is that impactful digital transformations have little to do with technology and everything to do with the mastery of the new business drivers: new customer behaviours, co-opetition, data and analytics, innovation, and enlightened leadership.

In this masterclass, we will learn how to execute some of the new business drivers using the platform business model, artificial intelligence, and rapid experimentation. Our Admission Advisors will also be doing a short introduction of the postgraduate programmes offered by the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business after the masterclass.
Topic: Life hacks for Corporate Success
Speaker:
Mr Lim Kim Pong
Creator of REFRAME Masterclass

Synopsis:
Many of us spend more than one third of our lives working. And we all have the same reason to work. To be successful, live well and be happy. We are successful. We live well enough. But we know we can be a whole lot happier. REFRAME gives you a process, tools and a community that will show you how to be happier and get what you want most in your life, with greater joy, engagement and meaning.
